Cycling

Cycling in the Passeier Valley

Your cycling day begins directly from Hotel Sonnegg: The cycle path along the Passer river leads you in a relaxed, traffic-free way towards St. Leonhard or all the way to Merano. Perfect for leisurely tours, even with the whole family. Merano is about 15 km away.

If you prefer something more athletic, you’ll find many options around Saltaus: E-bike and mountain bike trails lead over forest roads, alpine pastures, and scenic mountain roads. Road cyclists will get their money’s worth on legendary passes like the Jaufen Pass or the Timmelsjoch.

For your holiday, we also provide free city bikes and mountain bikes for rent.

Bike Tours & Cycle Paths

Right here in the Passeier Valley, you’ll find perfect conditions for relaxed cycling days and varied tours. Whether you follow the cycle path along the Passer river to Merano, ride an e-bike to an alpine pasture, or tackle the Jaufen Pass or the Timmelsjoch by road bike, there’s something for every level.

We also offer free city bikes and mountain bikes for rent. And if you’re looking for real insider tips, just ask Erich. He’ll gladly recommend his favorite routes, for example to the Pfandler Alm or a beautiful loop towards St. Leonhard, Pfistrad, and St. Anna.

True Nature Experience

Pure Adrenaline

If you’re looking for more action in the Passeier Valley, there’s plenty to experience. With tandem paragliding from Hirzer, you’ll see the mountains from above. Rafting in the Passer river is particularly popular, even for families, as experienced guides safely accompany you through the rapids. Those seeking even more adventure can try canyoning: you’ll go through a gorge with a guide, including abseiling, jumping, sliding, and swimming.

The Passeier Valley is also perfect for anglers: The Passer river and its tributaries are ideal for fly fishing, with fish-rich sections and an impressive natural backdrop.

Our tip: the fishing pond at Sandwirt.
