The Pircher family
Behind Sonnegg is the Pircher family: Erich and Veronika, and junior host Christof with Sandra and little Jonas—we’re hosts by passion. We love it when you arrive and immediately feel the warm, special family atmosphere in our house.
The people behind Sonnegg
Erich
Host Erich loves good food, getting active in the mountains, and great conversations with guests. Cooking is his passion; cycling and hiking are his way to unwind. He knows the Passeier Valley like the back of his hand and, with his sense of humour, always brings a good mood to the house.
Veronika
Our hostess Veronika makes sure you feel welcome at Sonnegg right away. At breakfast and dinner, she’s there for our guests with lots of love. She’s warm, funny and unmistakable. And anyone who knows her knows: a tiger-print shirt or a dirndl is simply part of her.
Christof
In the kitchen, junior host Christof is in his element. A trained chef, he brings regional classics to the plate—often reimagined and reinterpreted. A proud dad and, together with his wife Sandra, simply a strong team.
Katrin
Katrin is our powerhouse in evening service. She’s been part of Sonnegg for many years—warm, open, and with a laugh that’s contagious. She’s from the Ötztal, but found her prince charming here in Saltaus, and every evening she makes sure you go to bed full, happy, and definitely not hungry.
Walli
For X years, Walli has been part of Sonnegg like the Hirzer belongs to the Passeier Valley. She doesn’t like being in front of the camera, but she’s indispensable to us. Whether it’s washing up, helping in the kitchen, or jumping in when there’s spontaneous help needed in the rooms—Walli is there. Down-to-earth, reliable, with a heart of gold.
Waltraud
For 15 years, Waltraud has ensured cleanliness and that feel-good atmosphere at Sonnegg. She’s reliable, hard-working and humorous—and her smile is simply part of it. Many guests look forward to seeing her again every year.
Jenny
In the evenings, Jenny lends a quick hand in the kitchen—versatile and always wherever help is needed. She’s fast, reliable and brings lots of energy, a real multi-talent. In her free time, she loves travelling to warm countries, loves languages, and is passionate about baking.
Rosi
The good soul of our house: Rosi. She’s been part of Sonnegg for over 30 years and can always be found wherever a hand is needed—whether with a broom, in the kitchen or in the rooms. You can always rely on Rosi.
COOKING WITH PASSION
Chefs at the stove
Senior host Erich has been standing at the stove himself for many years, making our kitchen something truly special with plenty of experience, passion and a fine feel for great ingredients. And with junior host Christof, who has been working in the business for a few years now, the next generation is now in the kitchen too. Together, they cook what they love to eat themselves: regional dishes, fresh products and herbs from our own garden.
